The age at which individuals begin taking required minimum distributions (RMDs) increased to 73 from 72 on January 1, 2023.
- If you turned 72 in 2022 or earlier, you must continue taking RMDs as scheduled.
- If you are turning 72 in 2023 and have already scheduled your withdrawal, you may want to consider updating your withdrawal plan.
- RMD age will increase again in 2033 – to 75.
