It’s that time of year again. The 2021 tax filing season has arrived!

Important things to know

Tax filing deadline: Monday – April 18, 2022

Third Economic Impact Payment: The IRS will send letter 6475 in early 2022 confirming the total amount of any Economic Payment and any plus-up payments you received for tax year 2021. This information is needed to accurately calculate your 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit when you file your return.

Advance CTC: The IRS will send a letter 6419 for families who received the enhanced child tax credit. The letter will show the total amount of the advance payments received.

Unemployment: Did you collect unemployment at any time during 2021?  If yes, and you were a New York employee, you can access your 1099-G tax form from NYS Department of Labor’s website.

Avoid Delays: The IRS urges individuals to make sure they are ready to file an accurate return. Incorrect information or missing documents can lead to processing delays, extensive refund delays and later IRS notices.
